MAGGIE BUTLER
Having trained at Maidstone, Hornsey and Goldsmiths Colleges, majoring in painting, her first venture into the gallery world was with printmaking, exhibiting in galleries across the North, the West Country, the South East, and London. She had editions published by Seen Gallery in Knightsbridge and Christie's London at this time, and her prints were also distributed in America. The Towner Gallery, Eastbourne has 1 of her prints in their permanent collection.
Later on, Maggie focused on sculpture and her three-dimensional works have been displayed in many gardens in the South East, such as RHS Wisley and Savill Gardens (Crown Estate), Fulham Palace, and in the G Live theatre, Guildford. She also often exhibits her sculpture in London.
She has been invited to show work in the 'Sculpture in Paradise' exhibition in Chichester Cathedral grounds, organised by the Sculptor Philip Jackson and has shown work in Guildford Cathedral. She was also invited to show her sculpture in 'The Joze Show' and to exhibit 4 times in the 'The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Art Exhibition'.
She has been awarded the Sculpture Prize at Chelsea Art Society, several times for sculpture at Guildford Art Society, and was awarded the Kathleen Turner Sculpture Prize at Farnham Art Society Annual shows.
Working primarily in clay, she makes her own moulds which she casts using a variety of materials, carves in stone and makes constructions in wood.
Maggie has had a number of commissions and has work in Europe, America, Australia, South Africa, and the Far East.
Her clientele includes other artists, comedians, and royalty.
